It takes a little getting used to the way the app is setup, but it has everything I need. It doesn’t require a subscription— which is great! I bought an SD card and save everything locally. It had specific detection for people, vehicles, packages, and motion. I purchased the hardwired version, but it also charges via usb if you don’t want to hardwire it. If you want non-stop detection, you need to hardwire it. The quality of the picture is very good. It has infrared night vision. Plenty of features for simple home security. I would buy it again. I recommend it.

Installed a memory chip for picture/video storage — took about 5 seconds to install the memory. Camera images are not super high resolution but are pretty good (see image I just took from the doorbell). We are away from this home about 6 months at a time each year and just charge the battery right before we leave. We don’t use the motion detection but we get an immediate phone call when someone rings the bell. The battery drains very slowly in this mode and based on testing thus far, it should easily be good for 6 months. We tried using the motion detection when we are there but too much feedback. There are options on this doorbell that would work better to detect people, but we don’t really need it. Good enough to ring the bell in the house and ring our cell phones – we just turn on the camera on the phone, and can see who it is and talk to them. This works great when we are away and when we are in. When in, we are frequently down at our dock — and can answer the doorbell from there. If you want motion detection engaged and want to record video while motion detection is active, you can do that but the battery won’t last a long time. They do have a slightly more expensive model with all the features of this unit with a higher res camera that connects to doorbell wiring if you want to record that. I absolutely hate all of the subscription BS every vendor on earth is trying to get you to buy. We can avoid it with this doorbell which more than meets our needs. I would definitely buy this again!

I just got fed-up with the constant wi-fi drops, time delays between clip recordings, and the need to recharge/replace the battery, especially in the middle of the winter. Both Ring and this Google Nest have a similar wire structure for installation, and connection to the internal chime. Although the electrician replaced it for me, it was a quick straightforward install. Here are some specific comments: PRO Excellent quality video. Strong connection to wi-fi with no unexpected wi-fi drops. No battery to recharge/replace. Great night vision (B/W). Sensitive to motion, including at night. Sensitive to sound. No time delays between clips when senses motion. Option to add names to “unfamiliar” faces. CON Too expensive: Both the door bell and premium subscription 9even the Standard Plan). On the iPhone: You need a Google account and subscribe first. You cannot subscribe via the Google Home app. After I subscribed using the browser it appeared in the Google Home app on my iPhone. Learning curve: The menu on the app is not very user friendly. Too many clicks are needed, for example, if you want to download a video clip. I went to [help.atd.com] to get instructions. View: The camera is set to 1:1 aspect ratio, so there’s no way of making the view wider. Also, cannot record a live view on demand. Overall, I am happy with the doorbell camera and its functionality.

Customer Review: I don’t write reviews often, and certainly don’t write them for products I don’t like- so believe me when I say that this camera is worth the money I paid for it- and more. The quality of the doorbell camera itself, as well as the video it records, blows my mind for this price range. I cannot imagine having to spend at least twice as much for an Amazon Ring, or something else of the sort, when this kind of product is out on the market. Installation was so easy, and so was pairing- didn’t even break a sweat getting it all set up. The livestream does take a bit of time to load when I’m getting into the app to see what’s been going on, but really, it’s just a 5-10 second wait. Really not that big of a deal, and once it’s loaded, everything’s pretty smooth and fast enough upon selection. The camera will automatically format an SD card inserted into it, as long as the SD card is compatible, and I can record on it without having to pay a subscription fee. If I wanted to use the Cloud subscription, though, it’s only several dollars a month! The night vision and quality of the night-time video is also very usable, and the battery life is surprising me every day (having been already 2 weeks at least since installation, the battery is still at about 85%)! I use it primarily as a door camera, but have experienced what it’s like as a doorbell- seamless execution. Truly, I would recommend this doorbell camera to anyone looking for excellent quality at an excellent price.

Customer Review: I love this product. You DO NOT have to pay $9 a month for THEM to keep your video. It records to a 128Gig SD card. Installation is simple. The Kasa app is very nice. You can draw a square where you want the camera to notice activity. It records audio and video when motion is detected. It erases old video when it runs out of memory. If you have to grab video, on iPhone you can screen record so you can grab what you need to your phone, and send to anyone from there, even police, so easy. When I first installed it. It said the SD card was not the right format. The app kind of froze for a while……..it was downloading latest firmware. When that was all done, everything worked great. It comes with an external electronic doorbell as you have to disable your current doorbell. The electronic doorbell has 3 volume levels, much louder than the old fashioned bell we had. It has 8 different ringtones. I did have to buy an $80 Netgear WIFI booster as out router is in a room in the back part of the house and the doorbell is at the front door. Even thought my phone shows 5 full bars, the video camera wasn’t getting wifi. Once the WIFI booster was “WPS” synced to the router (push the button on each device) it all worked. When you monitor the video feed, you can hear audio from the outside. Using the app, you can use your phone to talk to the person at your front door. The audio is loud and clear. I have 2 KASA wall switches that turn on the lights to the front and rear doors in to the house. I have 2 KASA lights that use the app. You can change color and brightness. I have 4 KASA smart outlets, when Christmas comes, the app turns on all the Christmas lites in the house a the same time. I am in heaven. 1 app for everything with NO MONTHLY FEE. This is working for me. I hope it works for you too. I might buy a cheap small tablet that can be set to monitor the video at the front door all day.

The door trim was my issue. It wouldn’t sit flush. I snipped the wedge and everything fit. It’s wired so no battery life. Easy setup and wifi is not dropped.
