Then the replacement broke itself; when the outer arms grabbed the jar, they squeezed hard enough to break one arm off!!Returned it without problem. Not buying another.——-Earlier comment…It does open jars but it is kind of wonky. Doesn’t work as described. Details as follows:First one didn’t work at all. Returned it for replacement.Second doesn’t work as described but it does open the jars.1. The booklet says “Scan QR for instructional movie” Instead, I get some guff about subscribing to a spam filter.2 The booklet says “Reduce the outer jaws to the size of the can.” Then the illustration shows to move the inner jaws. In any case, neither the outer nor inner jaws can be moved.3. Pressing the green button sets the thing in operation, and it takes a while for the fully open jaws to close slowly to grip the jar lid first, and then the jar body.4. But it does open the very tight jar lid, then returns both sets of jaws to the wide open/rest position.5. But the sequence, running the motor all the time, takes so long that it makes me suspect it’s a “battery eater.” Only two AAs, but who doesn’t make these things USB rechargeable these days?6. Lastly, the guide book does read a little “Chinglish.” That’s not a problem, but why not have a native English speaker proof it before publication? Only a five minute job. So I suspect that reflects the quality of the product.We’ll keep it for a couple of weeks, see how it goes.. . (IT DESTROYED ITSELF! )

Customer Review: Update 4-9-24: I am still a big fan of this jar opener but I promised to come back and note any issue that developed. I purchased this opener in July of ’23 so I’ve had it 10 months and used it multiple times a week. The opener still works BUT I have to keep my finger pushing down on the “on button” on top of the opener until the lid pops open or it will stop tightening around the lid and open back up. When I first got it, I could push down on it and then let go and it completed the function of opening the jar. I’m not considering this a huge deal as it does effortlessly open the jar. As soon as the opener pops the lid open, I just let got and it releases the jar.This jar opener is amazing. I’m elderly, disabled, and have arthritis in my hands so needed help opening cans and jars. After finding the perfect battery operated can opener which I did a review on, I started looking for a jar opener. This battery operated electric jar opener is perfection.I literally just set the opener on top of the lid on ANY size jar and press the button. I gently hold the opener in place while it closes around the lid, let go and away we go. The opener tightens securely around the lid, starts turning and pop, the lid opens. Nothing could be easier. I am SO grateful I found this gadget. Everyone with hand issues should have one of these.I promise to come back and edit this review if I have any problems with this jar opener in the next year.

Customer Review: We have purchased and used (or attempted to use) several jar openers over the past few months. Initially we purchased a highly rated Oxo version which I believe came missing a part so it may not have gotten a fair shake. However, it didn’t work well and was difficult to use, requiring 3 hands. We tried using the pliers type oil filter wrenches, which worked fine for me due to my larger hands, but my wife’s hands couldn’t manage them. Plus my arthritis isn’t getting better so they went back in the tool box. Next we tried one of the type with a u shaped handle and notches and a locking jaw mechanism. These didn’t lock well and just slipped in my wife’s hands. So…here we are…the electric version. So far we’ve only opened 3 jars. One a jelly jar, one tall skinny olive type jar and a bottle with a bit less than a 1.5 diameter lid and tapered neck. The bottle is likely near the minimum size this thing will work on as it slipped at first, readjusted and worked it’s magic. So far, this opener is the only one that meets the mark, doing exactly what it’s supposed to. No, it isn’t fast, but then neither am I, and it’s lower speed helps preventing pinched fingers. My wife says this one is a keeper. I’m concerned, based on other reviews, that it may break over time, but for now it works great and I can eat pickles again!

For folks with arthritis I can definitely see a plus. Or if you are just sick of opening the jars for others, buy it.
