Customer Reviews

Customer Review: This worked great until it didn’t. Don’t know why but the screen remains blank no matter what restart techniques I try. Interestingly the hard drive is visible when I connect the USB C cable to my PC.Update 3/14/2026: The company kindly sent me a new unit. There’s a one-year warranty. All better!

Customer Review: I have had a previous model which worked very well. My cheap ear buds worked perfectly with it for over a year, then suddenly one day, would not connect. I thought it was the ear buds, but when I tried them with a totally different device, they still work perfectly. My old model had been dropped numerous times, and the battery life, which wasn’t great to start with had really gone way down. So I decided to buy another innioasis. My mistake! The ear buds I own would NEVEr CONNECT WITH THE NEW MODEL, EITHER. i HAE USING THE WIRED BUDS. The battery life in the new unit is worse than the current life of the old unit. Plus, both units are now doing the same glitchy things, which never occurred before.I can no longer easily access podcasts at all. the listening tab at bottom just disappears at will and even turning the unit off and on numerous times may not bring it back. Plus it is virtually impossible to look at podcast episodes any longer. It just wont’ show/change episodes. It’s even hard to open a book already downloaded on the unit, no listening tab, and the same chapter will just keep on repeating. with the listener tab gone, I cannot access the chapters to change them or even back it up thirty seconds to catch what I just missed while someone is talking.I believe the programming was changed to make things different, I can’t see why they would both change operating ways I am VERY familiar with, at the very same time. So I think these things happened in a product update I was unaware of.NOT HAPPY!!Plus I went to hospital for a long unexpected stay and missed the return window or I would have returned th new unit.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: This MP3 player is great! I love the safety and parental controls for it. It is just enough storage for our 6-year-old to play and listen to music. It did take me time to set up but that was user error. I recommend having some sort of account set up before getting this MP3 player up and running. Trying to create an account on the MP3 player does not work well. I love that it recognizes and reconnects to the Bluetooth headphones we have for our son.

Customer Review: The media could not be loaded. bought this MP3 player and I really like it! It’s lightweight and easy to carry everywhere, but still has a lot of functions packed into it — like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, video and audio playback, FM radio, voice recorder, and tons of storage. I love that I can stream music like Spotify and Amazon Music right from it, which makes it feel way more versatile than a typical player. The screen is bright and responsive, and the sound quality is surprisingly good for such a compact device. Overall great!

5. Audiobook Player with Large Storage, Long Battery Life, Easy Navigation, Supports Multiple Formats, Portable Design

Audiobook Player with Large Storage, Long Battery Life, Easy Navigatio

This is a dedicated software application designed specifically for audiobook playback, often used on devices like Kindle Fire tablets. It focuses on the core features audiobook listeners need: chapter navigation, playback speed control, and a clean library view. It’s ideal for someone who already owns a large personal collection of MP3 audiobooks and wants a better interface than a general music player.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • ✓ Dedicated audiobook player interface with chapter support
  • ✓ Skip forward/back in 10 or 60-second increments
  • ✓ Automatic or manual folder scanning for your library
  • ✓ Supports all common audio formats (MP3, AAC, etc.)
  • ✓ Simple, uncluttered design focused on reading

Why We Recommend It

If you’re frustrated with using a general music app for audiobooks, this is the solution. It understands that audiobooks are different—chapters matter, you need precise scrubbing, and album art is important. It’s lightweight, gets the basics right, and is a significant upgrade for users of e-readers who want a proper listening experience.

Best For

Kindle Fire or Android tablet users with personal audiobook collections who want a simple, no-frills app that’s built specifically for the task.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Purpose-built for audiobook navigation
  • Excellent chapter and bookmark handling
  • Very simple and clean user interface
  • Lightweight and doesn’t drain battery quickly
Cons:
  • Disc ordering can be incorrect with iTunes imports (1, 10, 11, 2…)
  • Limited album art display on playback screen
  • May not auto-hide system navigation buttons on some devices

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: This is a basic program for playing audio books, perfect for mp3 format that I’ve ripped from my personal CDs and Humble Bundle books. Once you set a media directory, it gives a very basic overview of the books. You can select and play, with options to skip back or ahead by ten seconds or a full minute. I’ve not played with the chapter functions though. Just the perfect program for basic audiobook playing.

Customer Review: If you’re someone who already has an extensive audiobook collection and want to slap that content on your Kindle’s built-in storage or microSD card, this is a great alternative to the apps that came preinstalled. I’d been using VLC to play my video files and my audio. While that app played both types of media just fine, I found its interface better-suited for videos, hence the reason I started looking for apps that were designed with audiobook listeners in mind and specifically users who wanted a simple and intuitive app designed to handle mp3 audiobook content already owned. Audiobook Player does just that, and it does it well. I like that this app gives me the choice of automatically searching for content on my device or allows me to specify a folder. The latter option is especially useful if one wants to designate a folder specifically for audiobooks. I didn’t give the app five stars because there are a couple areas where I think there’s room for improvement. I’d like to see more of the album’s cover art on the playback control screen. It’s fine in the album browser screen, but the screen with the main playback control buttons truncates the artwork for no apparent reason, leaving a bunch of unoccupied empty space below it. The other issue I have is that my Kindle utilizes an on screen navigation button overlay. These overlay buttons cover the bottom of the screen and obstruct parts of the app’s interface. Some of the apps installed on my Kindle automatically hide these buttons. I wish this app would too.EDIT: I hate to do knock off a star, but I discovered this app has a huge caveat regarding how it handles audio content imported from iTunes. Most of my iTunes audiobooks are audio CDs that I own which I’ve imported into iTunes, which I then in turn copy to a folder on my desktop and from there onto my Kindle’s micro-SD card. My iTunes audiobook imports are sorted by disc number. The problem is iTunes lists discs as disc 1, disc 2, disc 3 etc… whereas the Audiobook Player puts an eleven disc import in the following order 1, 10, 11, 2, 3… The Audiobook Player app works great for audiobooks that have a total duration of nine CDs or fewer. If the developers could make it so that it puts disc number metadata in proper sequential order, I would be more than happy to bump up my review back to the 4 stars I originally gave it. For the time being, I can create multiple playlists for books that were imported from ten or more CDs (i.e Part 1 = CDs 1 -9, Part 2 = CDs 10-19, Part 3 = CDs 20-29) etc…, but this is not an ideal solution. While some may argue that knocking off a star because of how Audiobook Player handles iTunes is unfair, I’ll point out that the reason I downloaded it in the first place is because it’s being marketed as an app for people who already own audiobook content, so in that respect think it’s fair to be critical of how it mishandles content imported from an app as widely used as iTunes.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Outstanding Bluetooth 5.3 performance
  • Virtually unlimited storage with microSD expansion
  • Excellent parental control suite
  • Premium build and feel
Cons:
  • Cannot add apps beyond the pre-installed ones
  • Interface might be complex for very young children

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Quality materials, nice weight. Does not look or feel cheap (at least to me, compared to the $35 one I had that only lasted 6 months before battery wouldn’t take a charge). Arrived 100% charged, took about 2 minutes to upload all my MP3 audio teachings, sign in to Wi-Fi, and get paired to my portable wireless Wi-Fi speaker. Began to play without having to get an app. The player screen gives me relevant information, home screen is uncluttered. Easy, fast and amazing functionality. Has decent local storage shared with the unit, and the extra micro SD card capability.

Customer Review: So far, this is a wonderful MP3 player. You can’t add apps to it, but it has all the most popular music apps already on it. It is user friendly and pairs with my other Bluetooth devices without any problems.

7. AGPTEK A02 MP3 Player Bluetooth 5.3, 1.8″ Screen, Speaker, FM Radio, Voice Recorder, 128GB Expandable (Black, 32GB)

  • ✓ 32GB built-in memory, expandable to 128GB
  • ✓ Includes FM radio, voice recorder, and built-in speaker
  • ✓ Excellent battery life (up to 40 hours)

Why We Recommend It

In a world of complicated touchscreens, this player is a breath of fresh air. The physical buttons mean you can control playback without taking it out of your pocket. It’s incredibly reliable, has fantastic battery life, and the sound is clear and powerful. For pure, distraction-free listening, it’s hard to beat.

Best For

Anyone who wants a simple, rugged, and long-lasting MP3 player primarily for audiobooks and music, with a preference for physical controls over a touchscreen.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Extremely simple and intuitive physical button layout
  • Outstanding battery life
  • Very reliable Bluetooth 5.3 connection
  • Lightweight and extremely portable
Cons:
  • Small 1.8″ screen is not touch-enabled
  • Volume maxes out at a moderate level via Bluetooth
  • No Wi-Fi or streaming app support

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Great little MP3 player. Sound is good, controls are easy to use and understand. Love the simple on/off switch and lock/unlock control. Other players I own have multi-function buttons that are confusing and fussy. I’ve used it for a couple of weeks with earbuds when out for a morning walk, and the battery still shows full charge so that seems to be another good capability. Also like the USB-C port for charging and computer connection.

Customer Review: This is a great inexpensive MP3 player! I was looking for a wireless MP3 player to use with Bluetooth earbuds at the gym to replace my ancient iPod nano and wired headphones. I also own a non-Bluetooth version A02S. This player is labeled A02XT on the back, and appears to be a newer version of the model as it had several additional side buttons which do not show in the pictures on the Amazon webpage nor on AGPTEK’s website. There are now Volume Up and Volume down buttons on one side, and a Back button on the other side in addition to the 5 buttons shown on the front. These make changing volume and going back one screen so much easier and intuitive than with the prior A02 player on which you needed to manipulate several buttons on the front to go Back one screen or change volume. Bluetooth setup was very easy and haven’t had any random disconnects. Sound quality is excellent. Be aware that the volume maxes out when using Bluetooth at a medium loud level, not super loud. You can copy songs from an iTunes playlist to this player, and have it play in the same order by doing a copy and paste (not drag & drop) of songs in the iTunes playlist into one of the Playlists in the folder on the MP3 player which can be seen in the Finder. If you select that Playlist to play songs on the MP3 player, the songs will play in exactly the same order as in your iTunes playlist with no change in sequence. It does take some time to transfer songs from your computer to the MP3 player especially you try to fill all 32GBs with songs.I did cause the player to freeze up when I erroneously pressed the Back and Vol down buttons together. To unfreeze, hold Play/Pause button about 10 seconds, screen goes off, then powers on, and all is good, no loss of files.I haven’t tried any of the other capabilities (voice recordings, photos, etc) but I only purchased the player to play songs, and it does this perfectly.

8. innioasis 160GB MP3 Player Bluetooth WiFi, 4″ Full Touch Screen Spotify Amazon Music Audible Libby Audiobooks (Black/Red)

innioasis 160GB MP3 Player Bluetooth WiFi, 4

This is essentially the same model as our #1 Best Choice but in a striking black/red colorway. It offers the identical 160GB storage, pre-installed Audible/Libby apps, and 4-inch touchscreen. The performance and feature set are identical, making it a great alternative if you prefer the two-tone design or find it at a better price.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • ✓ Massive 160GB storage capacity
  • ✓ Pre-loaded with Audible, Libby, LibriVox, Spotify, Amazon Music
  • ✓ 4-inch full touchscreen with vibrant display
  • ✓ Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi connectivity

9. 16GB MP3 Player 1.8″ LCD Video Voice Record FM Radio E-Book Photo Viewer, Memory Card (Sky Blue)

16GB MP3 Player 1.8

This is the ultimate budget option. For less than the price of a movie ticket, you get a functional MP3 player with 16GB of storage. It’s basic, with a small non-touch screen and physical buttons. It plays audiobooks perfectly fine, supports variable speed playback, and includes extras like FM radio and voice recording. It’s a fantastic “beater” device for rough-and-tumble use.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • ✓ Extremely affordable price
  • ✓ 16GB storage holds thousands of hours of audio
  • ✓ Variable speed playback for audiobooks
  • ✓ Includes FM radio, voice recorder, and photo viewer
  • ✓ Compact, lightweight, and very durable

Why We Recommend It

You simply cannot beat the value here. It’s not fancy, but it works reliably for the core task of playing audiobooks and music. The variable speed control is a huge plus for listening to books at a comfortable pace. It’s perfect for kids, as a backup device, or for taking to the gym where you don’t want to risk an expensive player.

Best For

Budget-conscious shoppers, parents buying a first device for a child, or anyone who needs a simple, durable player for rough use.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Incredibly low price
  • Surprisingly good sound for the cost
  • Variable speed playback is very useful
  • Durable and no-frills design
Cons:
  • User interface is not very intuitive
  • Small, non-touch screen
  • Volume control requires multiple button presses

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: this is a pretty nice little mp3 player for 20 dollars, it was easy to add songs the enterface took a few days to get use to, the interface hasoptions when playing a file press menu for repeat, an equalizer, variable speed playback, replay mode, pressing menu a couple of times, you can go to folder of your music ,but pressing right or left to skip songs you can skip to the next album, it does have setting you can set up time and date if you want, lcd set, language, power off, memory info, format device, firmware version info and update,it does have an FM radio it seams to function good, you can store pictures or videos but I’m sure most of us will only use the mp3, I like and dislike the head phones that came with it, but to turn up the volume u press the vol button then right or left button, and the volume gets pretty loud and sound quality is pretty good but I have not tried any other head phones yet, but all and all I say it’s worth it for 20, I like it. I got the green and I like it but I feel I should have went with blue,

Customer Review: I teach an average of 5 Dance and Fitness classes per day and ran all the way down 2 iPods to the point that they don’t even turn on anymore. So I was looking for a replacement MP3 Player that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. This one it’s okay for the price. It does the work. It’s not the most user friendly MP3 player I ever had, but I can’t justify spending over $100 on a refurbished iPod to break 6 months later.Pros: It holds a lot of songs; it’s cheap; it’s small and lightweight and it works with my Windows Laptop.Cons: You can’t add playlist through Windows Media Player; It’s not very user friendly; the volume button doesn’t work.Update on 3/13/2020: After using the MP3 Player for over a week I figured out the volume button works, but you have to push it and when comes up on the screen you use the right and left arrow to turn up and down. The product is well built and the best thing about it is their Customer Service, they are excellent in work with you to get you 100% satisfied! I totally recommend.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Very cool product – super pleased so far with this. This was a Christmas gift for our 9 year old and it’s been a HUGE hit. She listens to it with headphones plugged into the Mighty and also sometimes with a small JBL speaker via bluetooth. We have loved her being able to jam out and listen to what she wants without being tied to a screen.Set up took a little bit of time but was relatively easy to figure out. The app is not the most user friendly but I was able to figure things out without to much trouble. My one complaint is that the music you want to upload has to be in a Playlist you created yourself in Spotify. I haven’t been able to upload albums or other people’s playlists, I have to make them into my own and then it can be uploaded to the Mighty.Uploading music and connecting monthly for the required Spotify update only takes a few moments. We’re not uploading massive amounts of music but the uploads/synching have gone very quickly. My daughter has had no issues figuring out the controls and uses it without any hiccups. The music quality seems perfect, no issues. No issues with the functioning of the device itself either, it’s worked perfectly. Battery life is great.

Customer Review: Great Concept, Not So Great Technology. For me, the value of this product would have been having access to my spotify playlist while working out without the my phone, which can be a major distraction. However, this product simply has too many bugs which DIRECTLY frustrate its intended use. If you have ADHD like me and are having issues with focusing at the gym, i’d highly recommend just getting a focus app instead to temporarily block social media and internet browsing platforms (while keeping spotify and other non-distracting apps active)Now, what specifically are the issues with the product:For one, the set up is not intuitive and easy; in fact, it very trial and error dependent. I had to reboot my several times for the Mighty to properly pair with your phone. I also had to reboot my headphones as well for it to pair with the MIGHTY. The MIGHTY also must be connected to Wifi independently in the set up phase (it doesn’t just pair with your phone like a Bluetooth device). So, if you happen to be at a place where you don’t have WIFI, you won’t be able to pair this device during that moment.Secondly, it stopped working properly LITERALLY after the second use….I’m not being hyperbolic when I say this thing stopped pairing properly with my bluetooth headphones on the second use. I was unable to fix this problem in spite of several reboots of the device, my phone AND my headphones. Moreover, it also interfered with my ability to pair my headphones WITH MY ACTUAL PHONE after I tried disconnecting my headphones from the MIGHTY and back to my phone so that I can just listen to my spotify playlist directly from my phone.Just get Opal or some other focus app for your regular phone. MIGHTY is great in concept, but this product seems to have been rushed and rolled out far too early; it needs to be developed further and PERFECTED FOR ITS INTENDED USE!

Complete Buying Guide for Audiobook Player

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing an audiobook player, storage capacity is paramount. A single audiobook can be hundreds of megabytes, so look for at least 32GB, with 64GB+ being ideal for heavy listeners. Battery life is critical—aim for 15+ hours on a single charge to avoid constant recharging. File format support ensures your existing library (MP3, AAC, FLAC, Audible formats) will play without conversion. Bookmarking and chapter navigation are non-negotiable for audiobooks; you need to easily resume and skip chapters. Bluetooth version (5.0 or higher) guarantees a stable wireless connection with headphones. Finally, consider the user interface—a simple, intuitive design is better for on-the-go use than a complex touchscreen.

Budget Planning

You can find a reliable basic audiobook player for $25-$40 (like the AGPTEK A02 or 16GB models). These offer core functionality, good battery life, and physical controls. In the $50-$100 range, you get larger storage, touchscreens, Bluetooth 5.2/5.3, and pre-installed apps (like the 80GB and 144GB models). The $100+ tier includes premium devices with massive expandable storage, top-tier build quality, and advanced features like Wi-Fi streaming (innioasis models). The Mighty 3 sits in a unique $80-$120 niche for Spotify/Amazon Music offline only. Determine must-have features versus nice-to-haves to find the sweet spot for your budget.

Final Thoughts

The “best” audiobook player is the one that fits your specific listening habits. If you have a giant local library, prioritize storage. If you use Libby or Audible, ensure app compatibility. For gym use, focus on Bluetooth stability and durability. For kids, parental controls are key. Don’t overpay for features you won’t use. A simple, well-made player with great battery life often outperforms a buggy, feature-packed one. Our top pick, the innioasis 160GB, offers the best all-around package for most users, but the Gueray CD Player is unbeatable for budget and CD collections, while the AGPTEK A02 is the champion of simplicity and battery life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use an MP3 player for Audible or Libby audiobooks?

A: Yes, but with a caveat. Many modern Android-based MP3 players (like the innioasis and 144GB models) can install the Audible and Libby apps directly. For non-Android players, you typically need to download the audiobook file (in a supported format like MP3) to your computer and transfer it manually to the player’s storage. Always check the device’s specifications for format support.

Q: What’s the difference between a dedicated audiobook player and a regular MP3 player?

A: A dedicated audiobook player (like the software app we reviewed) focuses on features like chapter navigation, bookmarking, variable speed playback, and resume on power-off. A general MP3 player may lack these or bury them in menus. However, many modern “MP3 players” are actually Android tablets with media apps, so they can run dedicated audiobook apps, blurring the line.

Q: How much storage do I really need for audiobooks?

1GB per 10-15 hours of audio at standard quality. A 32GB player can hold 300-500 hours, or about 20-30 average-length books. If you download entire series or use high-quality formats, aim for 64GB or more. Expandable storage (microSD) is a huge advantage.

Q: Is Bluetooth good enough for reliable audiobook listening?

A: Modern Bluetooth 5.0 and higher is generally very reliable for stationary listening. However, if you plan to use the player while moving extensively (e.g., heavy gym use, running), physical interference can cause dropouts. For critical, uninterrupted listening, a wired connection is still the gold standard. Look for players with the latest Bluetooth version for the best stability.

Q: What about battery life? How long should it last?

A: For dedicated playback (local files, no screen on), expect 20-40 hours on a charge. With the screen on and Bluetooth streaming, real-world battery life drops to 10-20 hours. Always check reviews for real-world tests, as manufacturer claims are often optimistic. The AGPTEK A02 is a standout for its exceptional battery longevity.

Finding the right audiobook player can deeply enhance your enjoyment of long-form content. Whether you need massive storage for a personal library, rock-solid Bluetooth for the gym, or a simple device for a child, there’s an option on this list for you. Our top recommendation is the innioasis 160GB MP3 Player for its unbeatable combination of storage, app support, and features. For the best value, the Gueray Portable CD Player is a fantastic multi-purpose pick. If simplicity and battery life are your priorities, the AGPTEK A02 won’t disappoint.
